Today, the Grenada Investment Development Corporation (GIDC) proactively promotes Grenada as the preferred investment destination and fosters a culture of entrepreneurship throughout the tri-island state by facilitating the upgrade, growth, and expansion of Micro, Small & Medium-sized Enterprises through the delivery of entrepreneurial and business development services, and through the leasing of commercial spaces within its three parks – namely, Frequnete, Simon and St Patrick Business Complex.
Each year, the Corporation celebrates its anniversary that conceptually started on March 1, 1985, but dates to the late 1970s, when it was the Ministry of Industrial Development & Fisheries under the People’s Revolutionary Government (PRG). It later evolved into the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), a statutory body created from a need to stimulate, facilitate, and undertake the establishment and development of industry including any business, trade, and service. It was officially commissioned in 1985 through the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation Act which instituted its functions.
Sharing in this history was the Business Resource Centre (BRC) of the then GIDC, launched on February 14, 2005.
